Scottish Helpline for Older People is managed by Age Concern Scotland and is formed by a consortium of 13 organizations, both statutory and charitable, who deal with Older People in Scotland. They are funded by the Scottish Executive and provide a free, confidential helpline with national coverage. Staff and volunteers take approximately 10,000 calls per year from older people or people dealing with older people. Issues raised include Care in the Community, Winter Warmth and Fuel Poverty, Free Personal Care, and Elder Abuse. All staff are fully trained to deal with all aspects of the inquiries received. The ages of the staff and volunteers range from 19 to well past state pensionable age.
