The National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS) is the United States' principal health statistics agency. The National Center for Health Statistics compiles statistical information to guide actions and policies to improve the health of America's people. Working with partners throughout the health community, The National Center for Health Statistics uses a variety of approaches to efficiently obtain information from the sources most able to provide information. NCHS is a key element of the national public health infrastructure, providing important surveillance information that helps identify and address critical health problems.
