Universal Design (UD) is a concept that defines a philosophy for designing products, services, architecture, and environments around human diversity. Universal Design anticipates how age, physical disabilities, or a health condition may restrict or severely limit a person's natural ability to carry out their daily living activities. Good universal design succeeds when it enables a person to living independently and comfortably within their home or work environment. Universal design is also sometimes referred to as barrier-free design.
